How to adapt an itinerary template

Templates give you the rhythm of a trip, not the specifics. Swap the placeholder activities for real places, then drag each day's stops so they sit in one area. Add your hotel, trains and flights as timed stops so the calendar export shows your whole day.

Before you commit, check the opening days of anything important on its official site; many museums close one weekday, and seasonal attractions shut entirely out of season.

Questions

What should a travel itinerary template include?

At minimum: each day with its date, the main activity per part of the day, where you are sleeping, transport between places, and booking references. Good templates also leave slack time.

Can I edit these templates?

Yes. Open any template in the trip planner and change, drag or delete anything. It saves in your browser automatically.

Is there a printable or Word version?

Open a template in the planner and use Print / save as PDF. You can also export a calendar file (.ics) or copy the text into Word or Google Docs.

How many activities should I plan per day?

Most travellers manage two or three main things a day plus meals. Planning more usually means rushing or skipping; our relaxed, balanced and packed paces use three, four and five.
